# Welcome! This is an assortment of things I learned while pursuing my various endeavors. You'll find: - Snippets - Procedures - Reminders how (not) to do things - Simple facts worth keeping ## Why? Good question! Basically, this is a way for me to **quickly store information** without having to worry about **where** and **how to store it**. I needed a structure to keep factual information in my [*Second Brain*](https://fortelabs.com/blog/the-story-behind-building-a-second-brain-google-talk/) – I often find something of interest while working on one of my various projects. These captures sometimes turn out to be very hard to process afterwards, as they often do not quite fit in a "theme" or into the boundaries of a [*Zettelkasten*](https://writing.bobdoto.computer/zettelkasten/) [^1]. The result is a special compartment, which I call my *"Field Notes"*. These share the Zettelkasten's structure (and all of its advantages), but are not as sophisticated, so progress is not stalled on things I am currently working on. Expect things to be a little "raw" here. Also, as most of the information to be found in here is distilled from external sources, I thought sharing them is a good way to give something back. It provides tremendous value **if done right**, especially for researchers or people in tech. I found my own progress to be stalling while attempting to process certain types of information, resulting in hoarding never-to-be-finished quick-captures. Separating these notes into different "realms", even if they are technically of similar structure, helped me overcome this. Also: I link from my "proper" Zettelkasten notes to field notes, when I think they might benefit from the contents of a field note.
